Start you journey towards fluency or professional development today by enrolling in ASL 101! Here is a brief sample of what you will learn in this course: Targeted, interactive modules on essential topics to develop receptive and expressive signing skills. Module 01 ASL: The Language & Its Contexts Module 02 Greetings, Names, and Introductions Module 03 Interacting with Deaf People Module 04 Receptive Skill Building: Directionality Module 05 Deaf Culture: Labels & Identity Module 06 Activities and Routines Module 07 Reflective Week: Activities Module 08 Background Information and Names of Places 1 Module 09 Background Information and Names of Places 2 Module 10 Talking About the Weather Module 11 Family and Relationships Module 12 Friends and Relationships Module 13 Describing Qualities The duration of the course is approximately 12-13 weeks and requires internet access with the ability to stream and upload videos. In addition to the self-paced online learning material, you are also assigned a personal ASL tutor to provide support and guidance while interacting in ASL during weekly live chats (via Zoom). Weekly assignments and instructor feedback are designed to help you practice, improve and reinforce learning. A certificate of completion awarded at the end of the course certifies that you have successfully finished the course, with a language proficiency of at least novice low/med, signifying that you have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills within the program and qualifies you to register for ASL 102. Payment Options: Cost of the course is currently $450 initial payment OR $100 Registration fee + $26 recurring weekly payment (13-week) OR $100 Registration fee only (if studying independently without weekly instructor feedback or language labs. NOTE: to be awarded a certificate of completion for the course, a language proficiency evaluation is required and can be scheduled at your convenience).
